Four years ago tomorrow, on his third birthday, we met our son Manuel for the very first time after almost two years of waiting to adopt him. At the time, there seemed to be no end in sight, but I couldn’t take it any more and we just flew down to be there on his birthday.
Here are some pictures of him, one just after we received his referral when he was almost one, another of him right after the adoption was final and we were living in El Salvador waiting for the visa and the last one is of the day he came home.
Please pray for his birth Mother and all birth Mothers who are missing their kids today!
I truly believe adoption is a calling. If it’s on your heart, don’t be afraid to look into it. There are ways of making it affordable (which was always our biggest worry) and it’s such an adventure. If there ever was any truth to the saying ‘that which doesn’t kill you will make you stronger,’ it applies to this adoption.
And to add just a bit of cheese, Manuel, I know God blessed the broken road that lead us straight to you.
